I am looking for a long term, reliable tutor who can meet me on Monday afternoon around 2:00 and Thursday afternoon around 4:00. Each class will be 1.5 hours. I now want to spend time and money with a tutor to learn Chinese. I know how to teach, so I'm looking for someone who also knows how to teach, and takes a structured approach to teaching. Looking for a teacher that can meet once a week with me. Thinking 90-120 minutes once a week. I have used Practical Audio Visual Chinese. It's been a while since I reviewed all the way through the first four books though, so I think there's a lot I have forgotten. I use Chinese at work with some of my coworkers, but I am not satisfied with my fluency, recognition of characters, nor my knowledge of vocabulary. I'm looking for someone that can work with me and help me develop a workable plan. Something more than just read one sheet each week or repetitively do the same task every week. My family has recently moved from Germany to Taiwan and we plan to stay here for one year. My children, Caroline (9 years) and Damian (7 years) have had some Chinese lessons in Germany for about one year, but their knowledge is still very basic and passive. They can speak German, Czech and Spanish but little English.
