Hi, I'm Tim. I'm 35 years old and I'm a English teacher. I've been living in Zhongli/Taoyuan for one year and have one more year on my work contract. I now want to spend time and money with a tutor to learn Chinese. I know how to teach, so I'm looking for someone who also knows how to teach, and takes a structured approach to teaching. I am also looking to develop good pronunciation. The sort that a news reader on TV might have. I live between Taoyuan and Zhongli and can easily get to either to take lessons. Looking for a teacher that can meet once a week with me. Thinking 90-120 minutes once a week. I have used Practical Audio Visual Chinese. It's been a while since I reviewed all the way through the first four books though, so I think there's a lot I have forgotten. I use Chinese at work with some of my coworkers, but I am not satisfied with my fluency, recognition of characters, nor my knowledge of vocabulary. I'm looking for someone that can work with me and help me develop a workable plan. Something more than just read one sheet each week or repetitively do the same task every week. I'm just really serious about trying to improve, so I'm hoping to find a teacher that is also serious about teaching. Of course being able to joke around is a plus, but really need someone that's going to be able to get me to the next level.

My family has recently moved from Germany to Taiwan and we plan to stay here for one year. My children, Caroline (9 years) and Damian (7 years) have had some Chinese lessons in Germany for about one year, but their knowledge is still very basic and passive. They can speak German, Czech and Spanish but little English. We would like them to learn enough Chinese fast that will enable them to start understanding, speaking and picking up more Chinese by themselves. We are looking for a teacher to give them e.g. two lessons per week. The teacher should have experience with teaching children and the teaching method should be suitable for children who cannot efficiently communicate in English or in Chinese. Lessons could be after school (5 minutes from Zhilin Station, e.g. Tuesdays 16:30 h, Wednesdays 15:15 h, Thursdays 16:30 h) or at home (8 minutes from Hongshulin Station, Mondays 17:30 h, Wednesdays 15:45 h).
