Hi, I came to Taipei in Dec-2014 for project work from india and will be staying here till March 2016. Would like to learn basic mandarin language so that i can communicate for basic things since i work on weekdays i would prefer weekend classes or late evening weekday classes

Hi, I've just moved to Taipei for a year and I'm really keen to learn some Mandarin while here. I'm a total beginner! As I'm working full time and have a number of other commitments, I can only dedicate about 3-4 hours a week to lessons and the same for independent study. I appreciate this isn't much time and there will be limits to what I can learn. Lessons will need to be after 6.30pm during the week or at the weekend. I'm happy to pay for a tutor, but I am also open to the idea of a language exchange. I'm a native English speaker from the UK educated up to masters level. I am looking for a Taiwanese Mandarin teacher to help me practice and learn speaking, reading and writing Mandarin. I want to be able to have more easy conversations and develop my vocabulary and get more practice speaking and listening. I believe my proficiency is reasonably good, though I am definitely a beginner. I can have simple conversations around certain topics and am able to ask for basic things. I live in a country town (Shetou) and would love to be able to have more conversations with locals here, who often do not speak English.

My Chinese is pretty rough around the edges. Looking for some practice.

Unfortunately, I haven't really kept it up since graduating from college and starting to work, but I'm really excited to pick it up again and to improve my listening and speaking abilities in particular. Incidentally, I just came back from a vacation to Taiwan (which I missed so much!), and I anticipate future trips in the coming years, where I'd hope to be able to be able to better communicate with the locals. I studied in a group class for 4 months at TLI, so I have some of the basics covered. I am looking for someone to teach me common phrases, useful grammar patterns, as well as just general cultural things about Taiwan. I'm not too worried about writing, but I want to order food and have basic conversation. I have my own book that we can work through, too. I just moved to Taipei and I am looking for an experienced Mandarin tutor. My level of Mandarin is very very basic. I am mostly available in the mornings, before 10:30 am. My focus will be speaking and listening, not to learn how to write Chinese characters. Right now I am in the Da-an District, near the Da-an park but I am looking to move to the Zhongshan district.

Hello/您好！ I am a Canadian graduate student who is studying Chinese at NTU this summer. I am looking for a tutor to help me prepare to translate some Qing era Classical Chinese (清代文言文）government documents. I have some materials already I'd like to work with, but we could also practice with other texts if you had something in mind. I am currently an intermediate-advanced reader of modern Chinese, but only have limited experience with classical texts. Anyone with a background in this area would make an ideal tutor!

Tealit requires me to post an add so I can look at the Chinese Tutors. I need a one on one on Monday afternoons for 1.5 hours. e.g. 3~4:40pm, or 3:30 - 5pm. For now, I only need general Chinese. I have some material we can use, but you will need to supply extra role-playing material. My main problem is speaking.

I am focused on listening and speaking, eventually reading simplified characters. Have been studying alone and with tutors for years, but never consistently. Lots of exposure, but little practice.
