We'd focus largely on speaking, sentence construction, and listening. Hello, I am David, 39 years old, married, from Croatia. I am working in Taiwan for 7 years as an airline pilot- captain at EVA AIR. Partly due to the nature of my work, but mainly due to my laziness, I am ashamed to say that my Mandarin language skills are close to none. I am looking for a structured, and highly planned and organized learning schedule, with lots of homework and a professional approach, so I can seriously get on with the quest of learning Mandarin. I am interested in all aspects, including writing (both simplified and traditional). I am aware that this is a long-term commitment, but with the right tempo and continuous work, I believe that it is worth my time and effort. I would need some flexibility with the course timings, because I keep on travelling and changing the time zones, mailny via face-time online, but i believe that real-life, face to face courses are necessary once or twice a month, to check the progress and get the real impressions. I have some time during just a few days a month in Taoyuan, Luzhu. I would expect my tutor to prepare and organize the lessons, keep checking my progress, and motivate me to push harder. All that for a reasonable price, of course. I'm wanting to actually start working on my Mandarin since I've lived in Taipei for almost 3 years now and still haven't started learning. Added to that, my 1 year old speaks more Chinese than I do... That being said, I'd like to do somewhere between 1-2 hours a session once/twice a week (would prefer twice a week, but I'm really flexible right now) to start. I have tried doing online, but it doesn't really work for me because of the tones. I really want to focus on being able to read and understand it. I would like to be able to speak it, but that's not as big of a priority for me right now. I'd prefer someone who has teaching experience and a structured schedule so I have deadlines and goals to get towards. Since I have a one-year old, I would need someone to be able to come to my house (I live above a really good dumpling shop and will happily buy dinner!). Also, I have a cat - in case allergies are a problem. If you don't like cats though, I can lock her up in the room without any problem. I don't really have time on the weekends, so I would need classes to be after I get off work (usually after 17:30). I live in Linkou, near Old Linkou Street.

I've been in Taiwan for seven years and up until recently had little reason to speak the language. I was married to a Taiwanese who spoke fluent English and did not get out of the house much. After my marriage, I had to learn as much as I could as it made getting around Taipei far simpler. Hi there teachers, I'm a British man, teacher by trade - I really enjoy teaching and currently teach children English, History and Science. I've lived in Taiwan for 8 years in Tainan, Taitung, Kaohsiung, and Hualian. I just finished 10 months at the language center at Tzu Chi University in Hualian. I've taken a new job in Tucheng (teaching) and luckily I also I have time to study. I was really hoping to improve on the hard work of the last year at Tzu Chi and keep developing my Chinese reading, writing, speaking and listening. We are looking for a Chinese tutor who can come to the area around Xihu MRT station in Neihu three afternoons a week to tutor a 6th grade American native English speaker who is attending a local Taiwanese school for part of the day. We would need you to come Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday sometime between noon and 4pm. This would be at least 1 hour each of those days, potentially more based on our discussion of what she needs. Please read in full before responding! :) Looking for a Chinese tutor/teacher who can travel to: SHULIN, NTC 2-3x a week AFTER 5:30 pm DURING WEEKDAYS (M-F). Yes, Shulin is outside of MRT range. I would really like to stay in Taiwan long-term but realized it won't be possible without some basic language ability. I would like to learn useful things, like reading menus and street signs, being able to call and schedule appointments, basic everyday conversation, and some basic classroom vocabulary so I can communicate better with students. I don't need to be fully conversational or read newspapers, etc, but just enough to live comfortably here and not always be confused :) If we could go out and USE what you teach me, even better.
