I have been living in Taiwan for about 4 months now studying at Shida. Before this I studied Mandarin for about 4 years on and off in Canada. While I have much experience studying, I still encounter many problems in speaking, reading, listening, and writing clearly. I am looking for an experienced tutor who would be willing to meet with me 2-3 times a week, for an hour or two, and help me improve my Chinese in the above mentioned areas. While I am studying at Shida, I feel that the program is not entirely adequate and am looking for someone who will be willing to challenge me! I have some textbooks that we could possibly use together, but I welcome outside articles, books, anything! Obviously I will compensate you for your services and am willing to negotiate a fair price. Looking for a female Mandarin tutor near Yangmingshan to meet 2-3 times per week. Best days for me are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons, although weekends are also a possibility.

I need a tutor 3X/wk at 11 a.m. MWF (or one of the days could be Sunday after 1pm) in Tapei, either near Wuxing/Songren or Dunhua/Renai intersections, or somewhere along the bus 22 route. I want to practice listening and speaking (tones, flow, using correct grammar); but also some reading and writing. You must be patient, flexible and able to think creatively. English for more complicated things is ok sometimes. I need lots of repetition. You don't need to have tons of experience or 20 college degrees, just patience and a willingness to approach learning and teaching in more than one way. I'm a teacher too, so I will contribute something to planning my lessons. You don't need to have the same interests as me of course, but I hope you are open to talking about art, comic books, food and popular/sub-culture (including movies, sports, holidays). I am an American currently living in Sanchong. I would describe my current Mandarin ability as beginner to low intermediate. I really want to make some significant progress in all aspects of my language ability - reading, speaking, etc. A high level of English ability is not required as I prefer that the class be all or mostly in Chinese.
