Hey! My name's Eric Yang and I grew up in the US. My parents are from Taiwan and I'm coming to Taipei for the first time this fall. Pretty excited to finally visit the Motherland for the first time... :) A large part of this trip is for me to reconnect with my ancestry and become fluent in Mandarin. I can speak the language at a fairly beginner conversational level, but I'd like to learn how to speak, read, and write a lot more fluently. I'm also interested in learning about the meaning of each character, stroke, and calligraphy so if you're knowledgeable about that, that's a plus :) Not sure how long I will be in Taiwan for. I started a technology nonprofit in the US and am considering applying for an Entrepreneur Visa if I decide to stay longer than 3 months. I have learnt Chinese off and on again for a couple of years now, and as a result, my level is inconsistent. I want to improve my conversational ability so I can communicate with my Taiwanese friends. Hi, I'm looking for someone who is patient and friendly to help me with learning Chinese, with a focus on Speaking and Listening. I have studied 6 months of basic Chinese but I haven't had much opportunity to practice speaking. I'd like to gain confidence with everyday usage of Chinese, pronunciation and grammar structure. Hello! I am a visiting research student at NTU studying Chinese political economy, international relations, and participatory budgeting in Taiwan. I hope to improve my general conversation ability, as well as my ability to communicate in more technical terms.
