I am an American woman who has been studying Mandarin on a computer (Rosetta Stone). I plan to be in Taipei for one week, approximately January 22-30, 2013, and would like to meet with a tutor most mornings for 3-4 hours during that period. I am in interested in learning and practicing conversational Mandarin. I'm not interested in learning to read or write Chinese characters. I see us talking together, walking in Taipei, visiting stores, and practicing speaking in Mandarin.

Hello! My name is Justen and I am a 28 year old American. I work at a school right near City Hall MRT, and am looking to pay a tutor to come here and can teach me using a classroom that we have here. It would just be me, and we could use any resources here. I am using Chinese Practical Audio Visual, and I am on lesson 3 of book 2. I can buy you a copy of the book. I am most concerned about just being able to use the words of each chapter, I am usually pretty good at learning to read them quickly. In terms of writing, I am not concerned about handwriting and practice writing through typing on the computer (using pinyin). I am looking maybe for a college student or someone who will be cheap. Hello! My name is Mark and I just arrived in Taipei. I am looking for a tutor who can help me with basic Mandrin (mostly listening and speaking). I would prefer to meet anywhere on the red/green MRT line (between Gongguan and Shuanglien) two or three times each week for 2 hours. I am on a student budget so most likely I can't afford the more highly qualified teachers (NT250-300/hr). Bachelor's degree or less is ok.

I've been in Taiwan for 3 years. I can easily get around with all basic Chinese, so I want to take it to the next level. I bought the Practical Audio Visual books and studied by myself and I'm half way through Book 3. Problem is I'm just memorizing things and never use them in real conversation!! So I just want someone to chat with in Chinese. Someone who asks great questions to spark a conversation which forces me to speak and try to use the Chinese I've already learned. To be honest, my BEST conversations happen with taxi drivers (but it's not practical to sit in a taxi for 1 hour!). So I don't really care about teaching degrees because nobody can teach conversation skills... I'm looking for probably just 1 hour/week to start and anytime on the weekend is best for me.

I have lived in Taiwan and Asia for a number of years but am very embarrassed with my low level of Chinese!!! I am from the UK and live and work in Guting - I work in finance as a fund manager and this is mostly where I need help with my Chinese (although I would also like to be able to communicate better in day to day conversation too). Hello! I've been in Taiwan for three years now and still only speak the very basics, if that much. I am looking for a tutor that can show me more vocabulary, phrases and Q&A in pinyin.
