To whom it may concern, I am a recent graduate from the University of British Columbia in Canada and am now looking for a teaching position in Taichung. Due to my experiences in university I have come to realize that I would like to pursue a career in education at the elemenatry level. I have a stong desire to work with children and to see them pursue knowledge with the enthusiasm that I have. I studied Political Science and Sociology at the University of British Columbia and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree last June. My experience at University has encouraged me to pursue a career in education and has enriched me academically. For example, I volunteered at Blundell Elementary for the Richmond School Program. I was provided the opportunity to work with children with severe behaviour problems from grades K-3. I assisted them with reading, math, and computer work. I also had the chance to help with a sports event and during games time. I have also worked at Tomsett Elementary School on numerous occasions in order to help kids with learning exercises such as spelling and reading. The most recent volunteer opportunity I had was during December 2005 in which I helped learning assistance children make gingerbread homes for the holidays. While in highschool I beacme a Peer Councillor for younger students. This was a great opportunity to work with peers and provide counselling to students during the first few difficult years of highschool. I believe that I would be a valuable asset in any classroom situation and am looking forward to starting work with your school.
