High School AP Science and Math
Text of Ad
We are currently seeking a high school AP biology and physics as well as a high school math
teacher. The job entails the following duties:
Our students in grades 9-12 are required to complete a minimum of three courses in both Math
and Science to graduate. Our classes, scheduled for 45-55 minutes daily, are designed to cater
to the needs of approximately 50 college-bound students. We currently have a dedicated team
of three science teachers and three math teachers covering an extensive curriculum of 7 math
subjects and 7 science subjects.
The specific roles for the AP Biology and AP Physics teacher involve conducting one class per
day, accommodating the small yet focused group of students enrolled in these courses.
Typically, these AP classes have fewer than 5 students. In addition to the standard five weekly
classes, the position includes a 55-minute lab period once a week. All classes are conducted
exclusively in English.
Our AP Biology curriculum utilizes "Biology: The Unity and Diversity of Life" by Starr, Taggart,
Evers, and Starr (Twelfth Edition, 2010), an AP-approved curriculum complete with labs and
syllabi. This course is open to students in grades 10-12 who have successfully completed a high
school Biology course and are considering pursuing advanced studies in Biology.
For AP Physics, we use "Physics for Scientists and Engineers" by Serway and Jewett (Tenth
Edition, 2014). This course, which also includes an AP-approved curriculum, labs, and syllabi,
was previously offered online. Our goal is to transition this to an in-person class, enhancing the
learning experience. This course is ideally suited for students who have completed a Physics
course, typically in grade 11, and are planning to pursue Advanced Physics in their higher
education.
