Who we are:

VIS Experimental Junior and Senior High Schools are a selective admissions English immersion day school that prioritizes learning by doing. Our unique interdisciplinary Project-Based Learning curriculum develops students’ curiosity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. VIS is hiring a full-time college counselor, English & Art PBL Instructor, and a Math and Science Instructor for the 2026-27 school year to support students in their post-secondary pursuits.

These roles involve teaching in a subject-based format. We provide a modern, high-quality learning experience for our students, with a diverse faculty from universities worldwide. As the first and only school in Taiwan offering a core Project-Based Learning (PBL) curriculum, we are transforming education and empowering students for the future.

General Responsibilities:
• Teach subject-specific content aligned with curriculum standards
• Facilitate meaningful, interdisciplinary PBL experiences that connect academic content to real-world applications
• Collaborate with colleagues to design engaging and student-centered learning environments

Requirements (All Positions):
• A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field
• Fluency in English (spoken and written)
• APRC, Marriage ARC or Gold Card to work legally in Taiwan
• Strong subject knowledge and effective teaching skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Professional teaching certification (e.g., Postgraduate Diploma in Education, American State Certification)
• Minimum two years of teaching experience at the middle or high school level
• Familiarity with or experience in Project-Based Learning
• Collaborative mindset and commitment to innovative education

Expectations (Junior and Senior High):
• Design and deliver engaging, interdisciplinary lessons aligned with the PBL framework
• Develop and implement projects that connect course material to real-world applications
• Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration among students
• Work closely with colleagues to align curriculum goals with the school’s mission
• Provide ongoing support and constructive feedback to students
• Participate in professional development and contribute to the school’s growth and innovation

College Counseling Responsibilities:
-Advise a caseload of 35 G11-G12 students and serve as grade-level advisor for G9
-Guide students and families through the college and postsecondary process with empathy, clarity, and a positive attitude
-Write counselor letters of recommendation for G12 students
-Conduct one-on-one and small group counseling sessions
-Collaborate with faculty, student support staff, and administrators to support student success
-Support students on college applications, including research, college lists, timelines, requirements, and submission processes
-Help students with crafting authentic and compelling personal statements, supplemental essays, and resumes (review and feedback)
-Ensure that Teacher Recommendations, School Profile, Transcripts, and other documents sent to college and university admissions offices is accurate, complete, and timely
-Co-teach college and careers course for G11-G12
-Give presentations to students and families to support
-Coordinate and promote college visits on campus
-Foster positive relationships with college and university admission professionals as well as secondary school counselors
-Effectively articulate the mission and curriculum of VIS to colleges and universities
-Attend events to benefit counselor knowledge and VIS visibility - CAT Fair, European university fair, IACAC Conference
-Support efforts in data collection for admitted students
-Perform and assist with other projects, initiatives, and duties as needed and assigned
