Academic Year 2007-2008 National Taitung University Foreign Students Admission Prospectus

I. Requirements or exams requested by the intended department or institute, and approximate number of openings for admission to each department or institute
Ⅰ. Applicants: Foreign students (Students who do not have the citizenship of the Republic of China, Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China, or the status of overseas Chinese students)

Ⅱ. Terms of study:
(1) Bachelor: 3-4 years
(2) Master: 1-4 years

Ⅲ. Application:
1. Application Period: February 15 to April 30, 2006
2. Application submission: By correspondence only (on site submission will not be accepted). Send by registered mail to: National Taitung University Admissions Office, Taitung PO Box 359, Taiwan, R.O.C.(postal code: 950). Application package must be postmarked before the deadline of the application submission period.
3. Application fee and Payment:

Tuition rates for academic year 2005-2006
1. Bachelor degree program:
(1) Department of Language Education, Department of Early Childhood Education: tuition NT$15,100, miscellaneous fee NT$6,250, total NT$21,350.
(2) Department of Special Education: tuition NT$15,200, miscellaneous fee NT$9,560, total NT$24,760.
2. Master degree program:
(1) Basic tuition and fee: NT$9,970.
(2) Credit fee: NT$1,420 per academic credit.
(3) Elementary and secondary teacher preparation program: NT$1,030 per academic credit.

Government scholarships
Taiwan government provides some financial support for international students.Since the amount of money is substantially more than that is provided by NTTU,international students are advised strongly to apply for government scholarship first.All applications must be submitted to a designated Taiwan overseas mission, in the country of the applicants' into a university in Taiwan. Taiwan Government Scholarships
For degree-seeking international students
Scholarship:NTD$8,000 (about USD$240) per month, 10month per academic year, whereas
the recipient stays in Taiwan.
Work study:NTD$6,000 (about USD$180) per month for working 30 hours a month,
10month per academic year, whereas the recipient stays in Taiwan.
Applicants can apply for both kinds of aid, but only one kind of financial aid will be granted, depending on each student's academic standing. For the academic year of 2007 (starts from September 2007), NTTU will waive all tuition and fees for every international student. The university will also provide free accommodation for international students in a 4-person room Two-bed rooms or single rooms are available at student's own expense.

This institution has undergone several name changes: from Taiwan Provincial Taitung Teachers School to Taiwan Provincial Taitung Teachers Junior College, then to Taiwan Provincial Taitung College, and afterward to National Taitung Teachers College, these were committed to cultivating outstanding teachers for elementary education and kindergarten. In August 2003, National Taitung Teachers College was upgraded to the National Taitung University.
