The recovery
timeframe remains 1 month for the Green Line/Yellow Line, around 4 months
for the Blue Line.
Some facts:
The repair work is
being done 24 hours a day by a total of some 1,300 workers comprised of the
MRT's own repair crew, private maintenance companies and units from the army
and the navy.
For the Green
Line/Yellow Line the Department of Transportation has commissioned 50 busses
to run from Shih-Lin to Kungkuan stations. The charge is just NT$15
regardless of the distance you travel. The busses begin running at
5:30am and stop at midnight. They average one every 2-3 minutes during
rush hour, every 4-5 minutes otherwise.
For the Blue Line,
the DOT has some 150 busses running the length of the system. The
charge is just NT$15, unless you pass the train station. If you begin
before the train station and pass it you will pay NT$30. Again, busses
start from 5:30am and run till midnight. Expect a bus every 1-2
minutes during rush hour, every 3-4 minutes off peak.
The MRT system
supported around 900,000 riders before typhoon Nari struck. For
Yesterday the count was just under 250,000.
