I've been here in Taichung since June. I have tried to teach myself Mandarin but have failed. I took a year of Mandarin in college so I have some background. I am mostly looking to improve my listening and speaking; reading and writing are secondary. One consideration: I do not own a scooter so lessons need to take place near my apartment in the West District. Additionally, I am willing to pay. I don't know if that is normal or not. Thanks! Mike

I am looking for a tutor to meet with me 2x's a week, prefer late morning, to help me with my Mandarin conversation. Right now my ability is very low, so we would probably start by reading conversations I have. I am a 30 year old female who has lived here for almost 3 years. I have been studying Chinese off and on since moving here, but my ability is still very low. You would not have to do any preparation, I just want someone to correct my pronunciation and help me with my listening. I already have a text book I am using with another tutor. You'll need to be patient as I need a lot of practice. I live in Ximen and would prefer to meet around here. I would like to use the Practical and Audio-Visual Chinese book which I already have and work through the chapters. I know pinyin already. I am learning to read the characters but not write them.
