My 14 year old son and I homeschool and are beginning our study for the Advanced Placement Chinese Exam. We have the curriculum already. We are looking for someone to work with us in a patient, fun and kind way. We are also interested in including conversation to increase our vocabulary for daily/practical use and making a new friend :) We do not want to speak English at all, like we must communicate in Chinese because you don't know any English. We want a teacher who will only speak Chinese for the two hours of class. Our level is between beginner and Intermediate. So, we can start speaking using easy words with lots of hand signals until we know more vocabulary :)

My wife and I moved to the Shida area recently to be closer to work and because it is a great part of the city to learn more Mandarin...or so I think. What I am looking for is a very easy going, basic conversation session two to three times a week around my neighborhood. I don't require any text or preparation, just phrases, vocabulary and useful day to day things so I can begin to speak and answer more effectively. I am seeking a language exchange vibe with the focus on Pinyin and food (!!!) characters. I am willing to pay 200 to 300 NT an hour for such a laid back helper. Let me know if you are interested. Again, I don't want a serious thing, so no worries if you are a student or simply a person that speaks Mandarin. That's all I need. In the fall I am applying to Shida, so for the summer I just want to get in the flow of speaking and listening. Naturally, being able to speak English will help a load. Hope to hear from someone.
