New Taipei City (Linkou) looking for someone to meet with me 3-4 times a week. I am a beginner. I will not travel - but will pay for transportation to my location.

We are a family from California, here in Taipei for 2 months. Our two boys are 10 and 12 years old. They have some beginner Mandarin, and we're hoping to improve in the next 8 weeks. I'm looking for someone who will work with us 2 hours each afternoon for 3-4 afternoons per week. The focus would be on everyday language. Ideally, we practice at home (near Dongmen station) and then go out and use the language in real life--at the store,restaurant, coffee shop, etc. What is your experience teaching adults and children? Do you teach using English or all in Mandarin? What are things that you like to do that you might include in the plan? What are places in Taipei that you'd suggest we visit to practice and learn together?

I speak fluent Cantonese, but not as good as my English because I was raised in America. Hi, I am looking for a Mandarin tutor for intensive study 1-2 weeks. A little background about myself:. Born in Taiwan but immigrated to US when I was 10 years young.  So i have some Mandarin background and experience but it's now very rusty because of lack of use.  My speaking/listening skills are probably at an advanced basic or intermediate level, but my reading/writing skills are much worse.  I am starting new job (in IT consulting) in China starting in January so I'm looking to ramp up on my Mandarin quickly.  I'd like to concentrate on business vocabulary and phrases if possible. I am a doctoral student who studies Chinese literature. I will be working in the Chinese Literature department of a university this spring and I need to prepare by improving my spoken Mandarin this winter. Are you available for three weeks of intensive tutoring from the end of November through the third week of December? I would be interested in at least 3 hours a day, but I would prefer 4 hours.
