*Types of Scholarships and Benefits
(1) Undergraduate Scholarships: These scholarships are for qualified foreign students who want to pursue undergraduate studies at universities/colleges in Taiwan. A stipend of NT$25,000 per month per student will be provided.
(2) Master’s Scholarships: Scholarships in the amount of NT$30,000 per month will be provided for qualified foreign students who want to pursue their master’s degrees at universities/colleges in Taiwan.
(3) Ph.D. Scholarships: Scholarships in the amount of NT$30,000 per month will be provided for qualified foreign students who want to pursue their Ph.D. degrees at universities/colleges in Taiwan.
For recipients from countries maintaining formal diplomatic ties with Taiwan, monthly stipends of NT$30,000 will be provided to them to pursue undergraduate degrees in Taiwan. In addition, an economy class roundtrip airfare ticket will be offered to each recipient from such countries upon approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Scholarship stipends will be made available to recipients on a monthly basis in care of universities. Recipients will be responsible for registration fees, tuition fees, their own accommodations, food, insurance and other miscellaneous expenses.
Scholarships offered by the aforementioned agencies are as follows:

Awarded targets:
Except those who extend their study beyond the specified period, all foreign students studying at NPUST or applying for enrollment at NPUST are qualified as awarded targets.
The number of awarded students and awarded items:
The number of students awarded by specific projects and the awarded items shall be in accordance with the recruitment procedures established for that year.
The number of foreign students not awarded by any specific project shall be limited to thirty every semester.

*Feng Chia University Scholarships
Approved by administration committee Nov. 05, 2003 The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage outstanding international students to apply to Feng Chia University (FCU).
The term "international students" as used herein shall mean students of foreign nationality, not overseas Chinese or R.O.C. nationals.
The Office of Academic Affairs is responsible for the scholarship’s annual budget. International students in the undergraduate program shall receive this scholarship for no more than four years (five years for the Department of Architecture), those in Master's programs for no more than two years, those in doctoral programs for no more than three years.
Types of Scholarships :
FCU offers two types of scholarships: Type A provides NT$120,000, type B NT$60,000 per academic year. The award is transferred semiannually to recipients’ accounts in March and October, respectively.
*Taiwan Scholarship
International students may apply for the Taiwan Scholarship offered by the government. From January of each year, applicants can apply at the Taiwan Overseas Mission (TOM) in their country or the nearest country if there is no TOM in that country. *Dormitory and Living Expense
The student dormitory provides 1660 beds (four beds in one room) and the fee is NT$5500~6100 each semester. The dorm staff works 24 hours a day to offer assistance. There are a variety of facilities such as Internet access, cafeterias, washing machines, reading rooms, grocery shops, and recreation rooms to satisfy students’ daily needs.
The living expense for undergraduate students is around NT$4000~6000 a month; the living expense for graduate students is around NT$5000~8000 a month. International students must buy compulsory health insurance of NT$7000~9000 a year while studying in Taiwan.

Applicants are required to submit:
(1)Two copies of the completed application form.
(2)Photocopies of the certificates of the applicant’s highest foreign education record and the transcripts (A copy of Chinese or English translation shall be submitted if in a language other than Chinese or English). The applicant’s academic certificates, except for those issued by overseas Taiwan schools and schools for overseas Chinese, shall be verified by the R.O.C. representative office abroad1.

*Campus Life
There are a track and field stadium, a baseball field, tennis courts, a swimming pool, a gym, and a library for students to exercise, play sports, study and do research on the campus. Students are encouraged to set up school clubs to sharpen ability of independent thinking, being a leader, and working with others. At the moment there are 62 school clubs.

NSYSU Admission regulations for Foreign Students, Academic Year 2007/2008
Application qualification
Foreign students refer to those whose nationality is not Republic of China (as defined in Article 2 of Nationality Law of Republic of China) and those who do not meet the following conditions. If students violate the qualification, their admission will be withdrawn or the student status will be revoked.
Possess overseas Chinese status or had previously applied colleges/universities with this status in Taiwan.
Finish high school programs in Taiwan with foreign student status (except those offered by Educational Institutions for Foreign Residents or high school bilingual programs), or once was withdrawn from colleges/universities in Taiwan.
Hold the nationality of Hong Kong, Macau, and People's Republic of China.
Once held the nationality of Republic of China and renounced it for less than 8 years (till the date school begins).
Foreign students with a high school diploma are eligible to apply for undergraduate study at NSYSU; with a bachelor's degree for graduate study in Master's programs at NSYSU; and with a Master's degree for graduate study in Ph.D. programs at NSYSU.
Application requirements
Applicants must submit the following materials to the Office of International Affairs no later than January 31 (first deadline) or April 30 (second deadline). ※Applicants who choose to submit in person may turn in the materials to the Office of International Affairs, Room 2004, Administration Building, NSYSU.
Two copies of completed application form.
Copied Certificate of Nationality (passport, residence certificate or birth certificate).
Certificate of Diploma and transcript.
Two copies of certificates of the highest-level diploma earned (must be authenticated by the ROC embassy, consulate office, or Taipei Economic & Culture Office of the country in which the student resides). Graduating students without appropriate diploma certificates before admission should provide their official diploma certificate for verification once they are enrolled in school after admission.
Two copies of translated certificate of diploma if the official one is not in Chinese or English (must be authenticated by the school from which students graduated).
Two official transcripts (must be authenticated by the school from which students graduated and by the ROC embassy, consulate office, or Taipei Economic & Culture Office of the country in which the student resides). Applicants for Ph.D. programs should provide undergraduate transcripts in addition.
Two copies of translated transcripts if the official one is not in Chinese or English (must be authenticated by the school from which students graduated).
One original copy of medical examination report within the last six months, which should include HIV Antibody Test.
One financial statement issued by a bank (students with supports from funding agency must provide relevant document proof).
Master thesis (required for applicants of International Doctoral Program)
TOEFL score (above 600) or CBT-TOEFL score (above 250) required for applicants of the international doctoral program from non-English speaking countries.
Certificate of Nationality Renouncement of Republic of China (required for applicants once holding the nationality of Republic of China. Should be longer than 8 years till the date school begins).

Important dates
There are two phases for the admission application. Deadline for phase I is January 31 with admission notification in mid February. Deadline for phase II is April 30 with admission notification at the end of May. School begins in mid September for all admitted applicants.
Chinese language Proficiency
Applicants who are unable to keep up with regular course work due to language problem can take Chinese language courses at their own expense in the Chinese Language Center. Their admission status will be held for a maximum of one year. For related information please contact the Chinese Language Center at +886-7-525-2000 ext. 3031.

Financial Aid
Students may apply for scholarships provided by Taiwan government (for example, Taiwan Scholarship, website: http://140.111.1.22/english/home_information.htm).
Students may apply for financial aids provided by NSYSU along with the application for admission. Please refer to "NSYSU Financial Aids for Foreign Students" for details.
Applicants sought for Ph.D. degree can apply for "NSYSU International Doctoral Scholarship" offered by NSYSU International Doctoral Program. Those who are from English speaking countries or from non-English speaking countries with TOEFL score above 600 or CBT-TOEFL score above 250 are qualified for application. The scholarship include tuition waiver, monthly stipend of NT$15,000, and priority assignment in dormitory rooms.
At most one for above funding supports can be awarded at the same time.
NSYSU also provides part-time opportunities for foreign students at study. Students can apply for it after the school enrollment.

Fees
Tuition fee. For academic year 2005, the tuition (2 semesters) for undergraduate students is approximately NT$58,000, and for graduate students, $27,000. Graduate students need to pay extra credit fee of NT$1,570 per credit.
Insurance fee. Once students are admitted, they must apply for the "Alien Residence Certificate." According to the National Health Insurance regulations, it is mandatory for foreign students with such certificates to join the National Health Insurance program after living in Taiwan for 4 months, and pay health insurance fees accordingly. Therefore, after the first semester enrollment, students need to provide proof of health insurance of 4 month long from any agencies and purchase health insurance of 2 month long from the National Health Insurance program. After that, students have to purchase health insurance of 6 month long from the National Health Insurance program every semester.
Dormitory fee. NSYSU provides on-campus housing. Dormitory fee is approximately NT$14,000 per academic year (not including summer and winter breaks). Students must submit application forms for housing after they are admitted. Rooms are assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Miscellaneous fee. Fees for textbooks vary largely depending on the fields of study. Fees for meals are approximately NT$7,000 to NT$9,000 per month.

*Scholarship to International Students
The Regulations of National Taiwan Normal University Scholarship to International Students (NTNUSIS) is based on the ForeignStudents Scholarship Guidelines of the Ministry of Education (MOE).
NTNUSIS aims to promote NTNU to be internationalized and reward the outstanding international students in NTNU.
The total amounts of the scholarship to each international student is NTD10, 000 per month.
The number of awarded students is decided by the following formula:
The number of award students = MOE / per person NTD10, 000 X12months
The scholarship period:
The scholarship is open for application twice a year. The student can be granted the scholarship for half a year, the period will be from January to June and from July to December. When the student drops out /graduates from NTNU, the scholarship will end and the next applicant in order will take the vacancy.
The application period:
The qualified international student should hand-in the application to his/her department within the first two weeks of the semester. The application package should contain the application form, transcripts of last semester and a certificate that states the scholarship student does not receive any other in-school scholarship.

***The Enforcement Rules of National Chi Nan University International Student Scholarship***
school achievements of the applicants have to consort to the regulations listed below:
1. The students who apply for the bachelor’s degree must graduate from the original school with the grade corresponding to GPA 2.5 or higher, and the standard is recognized by the institute of NCNU which the students apply for; students who have been the undergraduates in NCNU must take at least twelve credit points for each semester of the last academic year, and both of the average scores of the two semesters in the last academic year must reach seventy-five or higher.
2. The students who apply for the master degree or doctoral degree must graduate from the original school with the grade corresponding to GPA 3.0 or higher, and the standard is recognized by the institute of our college which the students apply for; students who have been in the graduate schools in our university must make both of the average scores of the two semesters in the last academic year reach seventy-five or higher.
Ⅳ The amount of the Scholarship and the number of persons designated:
(Ⅰ) The amount of money for different ranks:
1. Bachelor’s degree program: Full amount of scholarship provides NTD.7000 per month for each person; half amount of scholarship provides NTD.3500 per month for each person. The scholarship affords twelve months a year and the maximum of four years.
2. Master degree program: Full amount of scholarship provides NTD.13000 per month for each person; half amount of scholarship provides NTD.6500 per month for each person. The scholarship affords twelve months a year and the maximum of two years.
3. Doctoral degree program: Full amount of scholarship provides NTD.23000 per month for each person; half amount of scholarship provides NTD.11500 per month for each person. The scholarship affords twelve months a year and the maximum of four years.
(Ⅱ) The number of persons depends on the budget of that very year. If the amount for the scholarship of that very year is exhaustion, then no more application is received. The international students whose qualifications correspond to Ⅲ of the Rules can apply for exemption of tuition at the same time.

**Foreign Student Admissions**
Foreign students are welcome to submit their applications to graduate programs. Admissions are accepted in fall semesters only. The deadline for application is March 31. For graduate programs, the applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree from an accredited university or college. The applicant is expected to have a reasonable command of Chinese and/or English.
*Time of Application
Applicants seeking admission must submit the application forms and other supporting documents by March 31. Applications are good only for the Department /Institute proposed. Applicants are strongly advised to submit their applications as early as possible and well before the closing date to ensure timely arrival of all necessary documents. Acceptance letters will be issued to those admitted after reviewing.
*Special Requirements
A health certificate and insurance document (medical insurance) should be submitted upon registration. Those who do not have any medical insurance will be required to pay an insurance fee and enroll in a local insurance program.
*Fees
Graduate students pay a basic tuition of NT$11000 per semester and additional credit fees at NT$1350 per credit. Further details for future sessions will be issued in the pre-arrival information. In general, full-time students will require an annual amount NT$ 90000 or US$ 2700 equivalent to cover their maintenance for a full calendar year in 2004/2005. If they are accompanied by dependents they will need an additional NT$ 80000 or US$2600 equivalent for per adult dependant. You should not attempt to support a family on the basis of funding intended for a single person. As students enjoy different lifestyles, it is not possible to quote a firm figure for living expenses. All students, once they have been accepted, will be provided with an indication of the level of maintenance which they will be expected to guarantee if they are not funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or other grant awarding body.
*Taiwan Scholarship
Types of Scholarships and Benefits
*Master’s Scholarships: Scholarships in the amount of NT$30,000 per month will be provided to qualified foreign students who want to pursue their master’s degrees at universities/colleges in Taiwan.
*Ph.D. Scholarships: Scholarships in the amount of NT$30,000 per month will be provided to qualified foreign students who want to pursue their Ph.D. degrees at universities/colleges in Taiwan.
*NCYU International Student Scholarship
International students who are admitted into any of the degree programs of NCYU according to the University’s International Admissions Policies and are not granted Taiwan’s Scholarships from Ministry of Education are eligible for this scholarship. The NCYU scholarship includes tuition waivers, undergraduate students will receive a stipend of NT$6000 each month (12 months a year), while the monthly stipend for graduate students is NT$8000.

*Registration and Tuition & Fees
1. Each academic year in Taiwan begins on August 1 and ends on July 31 of the following year. First semester classes usually begin in mid-September or late September; second semester classes begin in late February of the following calendar year and ends in mid-June.
2. Admitted students shall be present at the university for registration on the date specified by presenting the original copy of passport and diploma (or authenticated copies), or the status of admission shall be revoked.

5. Tuition and Fees:
For reference only, the following tuition and fees rates apply to the first and second semesters of the 2004 academic year.
Undergraduate Program: NT$ 23605—NT$27365.
Graduate Program: NT$ 12000-10365 (base tuition) + NT$ 1600 per credit
** Please note that there are two semesters in each academic year and the rates may slightly increase in the 2007 academic year.
6. Other Expenses: Book expenses vary according to the courses taken and the book prices. Estimated monthly expenses for meals at the university cafeteria are about NT$ 3,000, whereas eating off-campus may cost NT$4,500 or more per month.
7. Dormitory: Students can apply for the dormitory rooms which are shared by three to five other students. The room rates range from NT$ 3,800—NT$ 5,400 per person for each semester.
8. Scholoarships sponsored by the Ministry of Education (MOE) are available for foreign students to apply. The regulations governing application, the criteria for awarding the scholarships, the amounts of the scholarships, and the number of recipients are prescribed by the MOE.
