Special arrangement classes refers to one on one (individual class), one on two and one on three; and small group classes refers to a class with a minimum of 5 students. Special courses are designed for study tours, which are based on the requirements of the group. ＊Language Level Students enrolled in these courses have a placement test and interview on the first day, which help CLD to check that the course is suitable for them, in order to place them in a class appropriate to their level. CLD will find students an alternative and more appropriate choice if their language level does not suit the course they have chosen. ＊Extracurricular Activities Social and cultural activity: Studying at CLD gives students a great opportunity to get to know and enjoy Pingtung and meet other international students. CLD organizes a day trip to places of interest in and around Pingtung area. CLD also organize trips to visit theme-based cultural festivals held by the Pingtung County Government. Regular Activities: Indoor activities include: speech contests, reading, story-telling, singing contests, charade, Chinese whisper and so on. Students are encouraged to join NPUE clubs and other NPUE extracurricular activities. End of session party: To bring the semester to an end, CLD holds an end of session party for all students.

TSINT Chinese Language Center is a specialized department of TSINT providing a platform for foreign students to learn Mandarin. Other than complete hardware equipment, we are equipped with strictly screened, purpose trained and qualified faculty. The Center provides adequate learning environment and appropriate program for foreign students of different qualification to learn Mandarin. It is expected that foreign students learning in this Center will have the access to the Chinese Culture pleasantly at minimum cost. 　 The programs of this center begins from basic, middle, high and advance classes. The basic class starts from pronounciation to words and sentences practices. Middle class starts from reinforcing of standard pronounciation to paper and magazine reading. The high class starts from discussion and questioning drillsto high-end conversation for further student’s ability in communication in various occasions. In the skillful instruction, the instructors also pass the philosophy in Chinese culture to inspire students to know more about the folks and culture of Chinese. 　 Student interested and in need may request one to one instruction to have direct dialogue by initiative of student in asking questions and instructor join the discussion to rapidly increase and accumulate the learning results. Students may also utilize audio and video equipment of the school to make film replay and other after-class practices. Qualification: Any person of 18 years or older with valid passport, interested in learning languages of Chinese and culture are welcome and will be admitted after passing review of the institute. China Language Institute began operations in 1979, providing intensive instruction in Mandarin, Taiwanese, English and Japanese language and literature. In the first category are materials written in Romanization. In the second category are textbooks written in Chinese characters with Mandarin phonetic symbols alongside. Our aim here in using romanized texts is to minimize the difficulties inherent in study of an ideographic language such as Chinese by students whose native languages rely on romanized phonetic writing. We also offer instruction with materials using Mandarin phonetic symbols as some students; particularly those interested in developing more than speaking skills, find the subsequent transition from these symbols to use of Chinese Characters in reading and writing smoother and less difficult. Materials used for each student are selected following consultation with the student concerning his or her language acquisition goals. It is intended to familiarize students with phonetic symbols, Chinese characters, pronunciation, and grammatical structures. (2) Intermediate Chinese This course is a continuing study of Mandarin Chinese at the intermediate level, with an additional emphasis on extended vocabulary through reading and writing, and on basic conversation for essential everyday situations. 　 (3) Advanced Chinese This course is intended to develop students’ reading speed and comprehension of more advanced syntax and styles. More advanced training especially in reading and writing Mandarin Chinese is emphasized. Curriculum (1) Beginning Chinese : by the end of this session, students will have learned about 500-700 words for daily conversations to handle basic daily situations. (2) Low intermediate Chinese : students will learn 500-700 words more by the end of the session and are able to handle daily situations with longer phrases. (3) Intermediate Chinese : students will learn 700-1000 words more by the end of the session and are able to handle daily situations with discrete sentence length. (4) Advanced Chinese : students will learn 1000 words more by the end of the session and are able to read more than 50% of the words from the newspaper.
