NCTU Chinese Language Courses
*Small classes (minimum 6 learners) that provide learners with plenty of opportunites to practice
*The only intensive Chinese program in Hsinchu offered by a national university
*Lessons taught by professional and dedicated teachers with years of experience in the field.
*Abundant accessible campus resources, such as the library, one-on-one tutorials with trained teaching assistants, Chinese competitions, and priority registration for cultural activities
*Opportunities taking advanced Chinese language credited courses at NCTU after completing the intense program


Course A: Comprehensive Chinese
The course is particularly suitable for learners who want to work or study in a Chinese-speaking environment or who want to take standardized Chinese language tests.

Time: 9:00am-12:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
Duration: 9 hours per week (total 162 hours)
Tuition: NT$30,000
Course Materials: Practical Audio-Visual Chinese Book II Lesson 8 ~ Book III Lesson 4 (tentative)

Prerequisites (Learners should meet one of the following prerequisites)
1. completed Practical Audio-Visual Chinese Book I ~ Book II Lesson 7, or Far East Everyday Chinese Book I.
2. taken Chinese lessons for 200 hours or more.
   3. equipted with basic conversation and writing skills in Chinese and Pinyin or Mandarin Phonetic Symbols (MPS).
Course Content:
1. basic Chinese for everyday situations in Taiwan.
2. paragraphs using existing vocabulary and sentence patterns.
3. description of pictures, activities or events
4. the Chinese language and culture
5. short stories and personal diary.
6. preparation for the “Test of Proficiency – Huayu (TOCFL)”.


Course B: Conversational Chinese
With an emphasis on listening and speaking (supplemented with reading and writing), this course is particularly suitable for learners who want to consolidate their listening and speaking skills.

Time: 9:00am-12:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Duration: 6 hours per week (total 108 hours)
Tuition: NT$20,000
Course Materials: Far East Everyday Chinese Book II (tentative)

Prerequisites: Learners should meet one of the following prerequisites
1. completed Practical Audio-Visual Chinese Book I ~ Book II Lesson 7, or Far East Everyday Chinese Book I.
2. taken Chinese lessons for 200 hours or more.
   3. equipted with basic conversation and writing skills in Chinese and Pinyin or Mandarin Phonetic Symbols (MPS).
Course Content:
1. basic Chinese for everyday situations in Taiwan.
2. listening and speaking skills to deal with various communicative situations.
3. oral description of pictures, activities or events.
4. Chinese language and culture
