ESL Teacher and Program Design Specialist
Job Description:
Englist is looking for a dual role teacher and curriculum designer. This teacher would be responsible for early elementary-level English classes, helping students transition from kindergarten to first grade and working with students with limited English learning experience. The teacher will also help Englist design, develop, and implement an ESL program. Candidates must be self-directed and ambitious team players looking for a long-term role.
The teacher would begin on a part-time basis this spring term with demo classes twice a month for prospective students and their parents. Full-time would begin during the summer with an ESL onboarding program the teacher will work to develop alongside our current team. In the fall term regular ESL classes start.
The teacher would teach 18-22 hours per week depending on the schedule, along with prep and administrative work. Classes take place in the afternoons and early evenings, as well as Saturday morning and afternoon (Saturday is mandatory - Tuesday will be a day off). Teachers should expect to work around 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Developing new curriculum and materials
Teaching classes according to existing curriculum
Class preparation, reports, and meetings
Reviewing student work and offering feedback
Meeting with parents and discussing student progress
Collaborating with Englist management on program development
Instilling Englist’s education philosophy
Helping with seminars, student contests, and any program-related events
Basic administrative duties, including assessing potential students, picking up students from elementary school, escorting students out of the building after class, etc.
Requirements:
Teaching experience at the kindergarten or early elementary level
Strong classroom presence and management skills
Experience designing curriculum
Native English speaking ability
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university recognized by the Taiwan government
Proof of COVID vaccination
Dynamic personality, reliability, and passion for reading and education
Desired attributes and skills (but not necessarily required):
Major in education, ESL, or other relevant subject area
Teaching credential from your home country
Basic Mandarin listening comprehension
Compensation:
NT$75,000 per month - (negotiable depending on experience and resume)
10 days paid time off annually beyond holidays and company scheduled time off, including national holidays, Lunar New Year, Christmas Day, and one extra week off in the summer.
