Dr. Jim Juimin Lin 林銳敏
Dr. Jim Juimin Lin 林銳敏 dean of the Office of Research & Development describes the most important mission of the National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology as internationalization – global perspectives for students, professors & courses.
Following this focus on internationalization National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology has created numerous dual Master’s Degree Programs with leading universities around the world, including Waseda University Japan, University of Marketing and Distribution Science Japan, Baiko Gakuin University Japan, Himeji Dokkyo University Japan and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, USA.
There are numerous advantages to a dual degree. Foremost is simply cachet – to say one has not one but TWO degrees simply puts you that much farther ahead of the game. Especially when those degrees can span West and East – from Taiwan, in the heart of the Asia Pacific, to Wisconsin in the heartland of the USA!
Dr. Jim Juimin Lin outlined many other benefits. The economic advantage – Dual Master’s Degree students enjoy nearly FULL tuition compensation at sister schools. Meaning that second degree comes nearly without cost and… in some cases may even be accompanied with a stipend.
And, not least – time. Through the Dual Master’s Program sister schools recognize each others’ credits so that students may finish BOTH degrees in just two years!
Dean Lin pointed out that at among full-time professors fully 95% are Ph.D. holders who enjoy extensive real-world experience – the kind that informs theory with the reality of practice. Further, National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology attracts not just leading professors from around Taiwan but is also the campus of numerous distinguished international faculty.
In discussions Dr. Lin continued to emphasize the importance of internationalization.
