Walking through the park, up early morning or hiking green hills, here are the birds you're most likely to see and hear. Plus - some birds found just in Taiwan. And, some birds that have special meaning. Enjoy!!!
Most Commonly Seen Birds in Taiwan Top 3
#1. Tree Sparrow; 麻雀 Má Chuè (麻 / má / sesame; 雀 / chuè / sparrow); Passer montanus

Easily recognized by black patch on its cheek and the brown palette of its feathers. Not shy to be around people.
#2. Chinese Bulbul; 白頭翁 Bái Tóu Wōng (白 / bái / white; 頭 / tóu / head; 翁 / wōng / old man); Pycnonotus sinensis; Bulbul

Similar in shape to the Má Chuè / Tree Sparrow - a short canonical bird. Olive-colored wing feathers, prominent band of white around the back of its head.
#3. Japanese white-eye / 綠繡眼 lǜ siò yǎn (綠 / lǜ / green; 繡 / siò / embroidery; 眼 / yǎn / eye) Zosterops japonicus
